Sexy and single: Jennifer Lopez cut a
stunning figure at the People Magazine Awards in Beverly Hills in
December; she split from her toyboy backup dancer Casper Smart, 27, in
June. Her career has soared in the past 17 years with hit movies and music. But Jennifer Lopez’s love life hasnot been such a hit.
The
45-year-old shared a bleak and cryptic Instagram message on Sunday that
was attributed to a Bob Marley quote—an opaque reference to her romance
woes.

Instahurt: The singer shared an image of Bob Marley and a cryptic quote that alluded to her failed love life
The image, published without comment, shows the reggae crooner with his words superimposed on the photograph:
'If
she's amazing, she won't be easy. If she's easy, she won't be amazing.
If she's worth it, you wont give up. If you give up, you're not worthy.
...Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the
ones worth suffering for.'
The
timing of the hitmaker's message coincides days before she is set to
debut her Dance Again Tour documentary special that will air on HBO and
HBO Latino on New Year's Eve.
Last man: In June of this year Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart announced an amicable split
Her
ex-boyfriend Casper Smart, now aged 27, served as the 2012 tour's
choreographer--a promotion the backup dancer received after dating the
Love Don't Cost A Thing singer for six months.
In June of this year, two years after the tour began, the couple had an amicable split.
By
coincidence, nearly 10 years ago, she spent her New Year's Eve with
her former fiance Ben Affleck by her side, but weeks later the couple
called of their marriage and ended things for good.
Marriage off a rebound: After breaking
off her engagement to Ben Affleck in 2004, she walked down the aisle
with Marc Anthony months later and had twins Max and Emme; seen above,
the attended the 2011 Grammy Awards - they divorced that same year
By June of that year she was quickly married to Marc Anthony, with whom she has twins Max and Emme. They divorced in 2011.
'To
have one of my best friends who I'd known for years, who I actually
love and did have chemistry with, come into my life and say, "I'm
here"... What you need to know is, nobody can save you or heal you,' she
explained. 'Only you can do that for you.'
Although her marriage with the singer was troubled, she revealed to Maria that she wanted him to fight to keep things together.
Her first big heartbreak: Jennifer and Ben Affleck ended their engagement weeks after celebrating the New Year in 2004
Clearly, Marc does not match the description of her ideal mate she alludes to in her Instagram quotation.
She
added in the interview that she loves 'very deeply' and has a bad habit
of quickly entering new romances without self introspection.
'I'm
open to love,' she said of the possibility of finding a new man, 'but
right now, I think it's better to just be on my own for a minute and
learn more about myself.'
The
history of her romantic failures began when she was propelled to
stardom as the lead in 1997's Selena biopic. A month ahead of her
breakout role she married Ojani Noa, a waiter who she divorced 10 months
later.
He
reportedly made an attempt to profit off of the short marriage in 2009
by publishing a tell-all and attempting to sell a sexy honeymoon video,
however Jennifer was successful in fighting his efforts through legal
maneuvers.
In
1998 she began dating rapper Diddy, then Puff Daddy, for two years. Her
music career soon took off with the release of her debut album On The 6
in 1999.
A
year after her 2000 breakup with the hip hop mogul, she married her
back-up dancer Cris Judd in 2001 after meeting him on the set of her
Love Don’t Cost A Thing music video.
But
10 months later she divorced the dancer and began a high profile
relationship with Ben Affleck, resulting in the pair becoming engaged
six months later in 2002.
