Man Finally Finds an Elizabeth Gallagher to Take on Trip Around the World

Jordan Axani has found a needle in a haystack.

Remember last month when we told you about a man who was feverishly searching for a Canadian woman named Elizabeth Gallagher to take on a trip around the world? Well, he found her, and our heads are pretty much exploding.

The lucky woman is Elizabeth Gallagher, a 23-year-old student from Nova Scotia who is a seasonal coast guard rescuer and homeless shelter volunteer. She will forgo spending the holidays with her family, for a once-in-a lifetime adventure with Axani in Europe.

This all started when Jordan Axani booked a holiday trip around the world with his ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Gallagher. After they broke up, he was stuck with an extra plane ticket. It was going to be a huge inconvenience to change the name on the ticket, so instead of letting it go to waste, Axani took to the internet looking for another Canadian woman named Elizabeth Gallagher to take her place.

He wrote a post on Reddit, stating that he was looking for a woman named Elizabeth Gallagher to take on an amazing trip with no strings attached. He said he was looking for a potential travel mate who was sane, smart, spontaneous, had a desire to travel, and of course, had the appropriate name.

Elizabeth Gallagher, who usually goes by her middle name Quinn, was immediately inundated with emails from friends and family pushing her to apply. “They were pushing me out the door. Some of my sweetest aunts in the world who would never say anything were saying, ‘If you don’t go on this, you are crazy,’” she told The Star. “I thought this is a crazy opportunity. Even if I didn’t get picked, I felt like I had to say I tried.”

After shuffling through countless emails and social media posts, Axani selected Gallagher. He was impressed by her questionnaire, and the chatted for hours on a Skype meeting. “She has a real thirst to see the world,” Axani told The Star. “She has that east coast wonderful personality. She’s a good-hearted person.”

For all of you romantics out there, don’t get too excited. Gallagher has a long-term boyfriend who she says is “very supportive” but also “a little jealous that I’m going on a trip with a guy, and a trip that he would love to go on.”

So maybe there won’t be a love connection, but something positive has come out of this arrangement. After getting inundated with heartbreaking stories from applicants, Axani started a charity called “A Ticket Forward" that will help underprivileged and at-risk individuals acquire travel opportunities. “When you are reading these stories en masse, you are thinking, ‘Oh my goodness, what can we do about this (and) how can we help?” said Axani. 

Axani and Gallagher will depart from New York on Dec. 21 and make stops in Milan, Prague, Vienna, Paris, Bangkok, Thailand, New Delhi, and Agra, before returning to Toronto on Jan. 12.
