The scene from inside the supermarket where Laure Boutny is currently situatedA bystander has told of how she was shopping for cornflakes when a fresh hostage situation developed in a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris.

Hostages are said to have been taken by a gunman - believed to be linked to the Charlie Hebdo attack suspects - and the area has been evacuated by armed police. But student Laure Boutmy, 23, is currently holed up in a shop almost  directly opposite the Jewish hypermarket that has been hit.

Ms Boutmy was in the Monoprix supermarket in the Porte de Vincennes area when the siege started to happen.

She told Yahoo News UK: "I am with about 50 people inside the shop. Police told the shop owners to lock the doors and keep everyone downstairs. I had no idea what was happening at first.. I was just buying cornflakes when it happened."

Ms Boutmy, who has lived in the area for two years , attends a local university called HETIC. She told Yahoo that the university is also in lockdown, with no students being allowed to leave. She added that helicopters were now hovering over the shop she was holed up in.

She added: "The people who work in the shop have given us water and are looking after us. We're here to stay until it is over - possibly even longer. After what happend two days ago we were so shocked we didn't think it could happen again."
