Jessica Simpson Posts Bizarre Instagram Photo, but Kind of Makes Up for It

Fact: Jessica Simpson is a huge fan of floor covering. (Instagram) Is "carpeting" the new "fridging"?

Jessica Simpson could be sparking a new trend — or just making people scratch their heads — with a new photo she posted of herself on Instagram. The very blond star, 34, posed in a fashion that we guess we would describe as suggestively (though we're still not 100 percent sure) while sprawled across a cream colored carpet.
"I love carpet," the Weight Watchers devotee captioned the uncomfortable-looking shot, which has elicited many confused responses from commenters from "Why?" to, um, "idiot."
Seeing Jessica's awkward pose made us think back to another clumsy looking photo trend: fridging. A few years back, Nicki Minaj posed in a refrigerator during a Glamour magazine photo shoot. Other celebrities, including Snooki and Christina Ricci, followed suit. Kelly Ripa had her own spin on it, stuffing herself under a desk. (Fridging, of course, followed the whole planking craze.)
After you mumble to yourself at your desk that celebrities are weird and have too much time on their hands (we hear ya), know that Simpson made up for her peculiar carpeting photo soon after. That was when she posted a pic of her adorable 1-year-old son, Ace Knute, sitting in front of a piano with the Manhattan cityscape behind him.

Simpson fans were more excited to see Ace play the piano than they were to see the fashionista writhe on the floor...

"New York State Of Mind," Jess wrote of her sweet shirtless ivory tickler. The comments on that shot were much nicer, too. Think: More "cute" than "WTF?"
