A New York police officer will not face criminal charges for the chokehold death of Eric Garner, an unarmed black man.
On Wednesday, a grand jury chose not to indict white officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was seen on video using a banned chokehold on Garner, during a struggle between Garner and several officers. In a video of the incident, Garner can be heard saying "I can't breathe" multiple times to the officers.
Garner was suspected of selling illegal cigarettes. His death in July became a point of protest over police killings of unarmed African Americans across the US.
